If you've ever tried serious Email marketing you might know something about the strategies required to be successful at it.
When we're newbies we tend to think "Oh I'll just send a message or two out to my customers and prospects and eventually I'll start getting some response from them."
But it's not that simple.
Of course the first problem is building a list. I'll touch on that another day.
But as soon as you have a list the second problem is knowing what to say in your messages. What you want to do is to generate sales without turning off more of your prospects than you turn on.
In a recent article about Email marketing, Matt Callen of InstantPopover.com suggests the secret is to use your Email system to give people information and ideas that benefit them.
As Matt says, "Research your market, and spend some time learning everything you can about the 'passion' of your list. Then share that info w/ them. Don't ram it down their throats, but simply 'share' it with them. That's how to profit from it."
That sounds like pretty good advice. If you "care" enough to give me information that is useful - with no strings attached, and no effort to hard sell me on some product - then I will begin to trust your advice.
And once I begin to trust your advice I will very likely consider buying products or services that you recommend.
And of course some of these will be your own products and services.
