Hi Rick, thank you for the visit at eWritings. I just thought it would be good to "return" the favor and post a comment on your blog (which, I might add, it's very interesting and full of useful information)

It's a good idea to encourage comments (see? I am already taking your challenge) especially if you use indexable comments. They add to the content of the page and in the end, it is only a win-win situation: you get more content, better keyword density, and the one posting the comment gets a free link. I think you should probably tell your readers this to be as transparent as possible about the advantages.

But in the end, what really matters about comments, is what we can learn from our readers. :) And how we reciprocate.

    Hi Mihaela,
Thanks very much for stopping by. You're right about encouraging comments. Of course it takes time and thought to say something meaningful, but I've found it very educational to make a point of visiting as many blogs as possible, and found most fellow bloggers quite willing to reciprocate.

    So blog on!

Here's a good post about the "Do Follow" movement among bloggers.

This really is a great way to build links to your site while contributing to another site. If done the right way, it's a win-win. It's also abused quite often.

Yes, I agree Court. Thanks for stopping by.

Hi Rick, I really appreciated suggestions Darren Rowse provided on what type of comments readers should or shouldn't leave to draw attention from the blogger as well as readers.

Having the nofollow attribute removed from our blogs certainly helps draw readers and comments, but like Court said, it gets abused pretty often.

For those interested, here's the link to Darren's very helpful post.

Is it just me, or does the link not go to the place with the DoFollow information?

Do-follow blogs are indeed one of the best free ways for us bloggers to get quality links. I'm glad you are one of us do-follow bloggers. Feel free to drop by my blog for a link or two :)

    Hi Mike,
I think you're right about that link. Either I wasn't thinking straight when I put it there, or something has changed. The program being promoted by Johnathan Leger involved a "system" for looking for the no-follow tag as well as a list of about 65 marketing blogs that had removed it. Since then Chris Compton has also come out with a little piece of software that will search for no-follow blogs (Wordpress) with any theme and find potentially hundreds of them.

    Hi Sutocu..
I will sure try to drop by your blog. Thanks for visiting.

I have found this to be a good way of encouraging comments. I just noticed the Dofollow Blogs listing in your sidebar - very nice. Is it a plugin or did you make it yourself?

    Hi Colin,
    Thanks for stopping by.

The "DoFollow" Blog List was initiated here:

It's a plug in which Tricia will set up for you.

Have you thought that passing this advice along as help instead of a service at $1 a shot might win business down the road? A problem seems to be that people associate price with value which isn't necessarily the case. Definite good advice in terms of commenting. If only people understood meaningful comments generate meaningful results. It's not based simply on number of comments. Cheers!

    Hi Kilroy_60

Thanks for stopping by. I understand what you're saying about the $1 thing. If it was my information to give I would be giving it away, but it is not. I believe the originator of the product, Jonathan Leger, wanted to do a little test using this product.

As you can see from the "dofollow" list in the sidebar I subsequently found another source of dofollow blogs, and that information is free for the taking.

Thank you for sharing your the info about the backlinks that we can use to increase the traffic in my site. Creating comments help me a lot because i can insert the backlink of my site.Additional info it is important to remember to always use the keywords you want to categorize in your anchor text of the relationship. Some bloggers do not allow keyword in the anchor, but only a first name. Something that I will never understand because if you are offering to follow-why put restrictions on the anchor? For the love of God that wants to qualify for his first name? However, I digressed. Links with nofollow do not count as backlinks to Google and other search engines, so you dont get the search engine ranking benefit for a link with nofollow. At this moment a whole movement has evolved, who are removing the NoFollow settings. These bloggers are able to reward commenter’s with so called love links. Love links are an excellent way to reward visitors that are contributing to a useful discussion.
