According to a report at mashable.com, the board of directors at Yahoo is deeply split over the current Microsoft bid to buy the company. The old guard, if you can call them that, led by Yahoo co-creator Jerry Yang are trying to hang on against the evil Microsoft. But current chairman Roy Bostock is in favor of the bid and has the support of most of the board.
Isn't it obvious now that Yahoo is in play, this bid, or something like it, will inevitably go through. And doesn't Yahoo stand a better chance of retaining a certain amount of autonomy under Microsoft than they do under some other company that doesn't have MS's deep pockets?
Frankly, I say anything that challenges Google's dominance in the online advertising area is a good thing. All we care about are valuable, legitimate "clicks", right? And quite a few marketers find their ROI from both Yahoo and MS PPC ads better than from Google.
