The artist and painter Mikhail Onanov was born in City of Baku, Azerbaijan (one of the republics of the former USSR), and graduated from the Architectural College in Azerbaijan at the top of his class. He then spent a period of time working for the City of Baku as an assistant of the executive architect.





He came to the USA in 1990 and started to paint back in school. He has been painting for over 30 years now.


Mikhail's father was a well known artist in Azerbaijan, so the love of art runs very deep in his blood.


Mikhail's favorite media is oil on canvas, and he paints in oil whenever he can.


According to Mikhail Chicago is "the most beautiful city in the world", and the city where he just happens to live and work. In fact he enjoys Chicago so much he has dedicated many painting series to it.


One of the first painting series he did after coming to the USA is "Streets of Chicago". There are only 3 paintings left in the series. These hung in his own home for a number of years, and no one had even seen them for more than 10 years. He has now offered these outstanding paintings for sale.


Mikhail's favorite style is impressionism. In his own words, "I paint and create art because I enjoy it so much and I feel rewarded when other people enjoy it too."
